Find a psychologist in Adelaide, or anyone on our team
Find a psychologist in Adelaide who suits you or your child: our psychologists and occupational therapists see children, teens and adults for therapy and assessments, in a neuro-affirming way. A free first call with our team helps match you with the right person.

How do I pick the right psychologist or practitioner for me?
Start with four things: what you’d like help with, who it’s for, where you’d like to be seen and how you’re paying. Then look for someone whose focus matches. If you’d feel more comfortable with a practitioner of a particular gender, or someone who shares your language or culture, tell us on the free first call. You don’t need to have it all worked out: matching you with the right person is part of what our team does.
Child psychology and paediatric OT
You might say: Support for my child
Children often need support with feelings, learning, play, sensory needs or everyday routines. Our child psychologists offer therapy, and our paediatric OTs build everyday skills through play, in clinic, at home or at school.
Teenagers and adults come to us for support with mental health, independence, daily routines and big life changes. Our psychologists offer talking therapies, and our OTs work on the practical skills and strategies that make everyday life easier.
Worry that won’t switch off, the effects of something painful that happened, or a loss that’s hard to carry can affect sleep, work, study and relationships. Our psychologists offer compassionate, evidence-based therapy at a pace that feels safe for you.
An assessment can help you understand how you or your child thinks, learns and experiences the world. Our psychologists assess for autism, ADHD, learning differences, giftedness and FASD, and explain the results in plain language. Ann Parker is our assessment psychologist: she assesses autism from age 3, and ADHD for children and teens aged 5 to 17.
Neuro-affirming support for autistic and ADHD people
You might say: Someone who understands neurodivergence
Neuro-affirming support works with how your brain works, not against it. Our practitioners focus on strengths, sensory needs and the goals that matter to you, and never try to change who you are.
We’re a registered NDIS provider, so participants can use their plan funding for psychology, occupational therapy, positive behaviour support and dietetics. We accept plan-managed, self-managed and NDIA-managed plans. All of our therapy practitioners see NDIS participants. Assessments are privately funded.

Fees as listed on our fees and funding page. The session fee is the same for private, Medicare and NDIS clients, and it is the 2026–27 NDIS price limit for psychologists. We don’t bulk bill. Our psychologists are general psychologists, so the Medicare rebate is $101.55 (item 80110, from 1 July 2026), which leaves a gap of $151.44.1 The rebate changes each 1 July.
Ways to pay
Private
No referral needed. Book directly and pay per session.
Private health insurance
You can pay privately and claim back from your insurer. Most funds let you claim through their app, depending on your cover. We don’t process claims on the day, so you pay in full at your session.
Medicare
Ask your GP for a Mental Health Treatment Plan and a referral to us. Under Better Access you can claim a rebate for up to 10 individual sessions each calendar year: the first course is up to 6 sessions, then your GP reviews your plan and refers you for the rest.2 You pay the gap between our fee and the rebate.
NDIS
Funding for the support in your plan, then an online referral. We accept plan-managed, self-managed and NDIA-managed plans.
Who’s on the CHSA team?
These are the psychologists and occupational therapists you can see at CHSA. Each card shows who they see and what they focus on, with a link to their full profile. Clinics and days are on each profile. Our positive behaviour support practitioners, dietitians and assessment team will be added here soon.
Psychology therapy by telehealth anywhere in Australia; assessments are done in clinic, though the first call and the feedback session can be by phone or video. Home visits are mainly for NDIS participants and aren’t usual for psychology.

Questions people ask
Is it better to see a female psychologist?
It’s your choice. What matters most is feeling safe and comfortable with the person you see, and some people feel more at ease with a practitioner of a particular gender. Tell our team on the free first call and we’ll take your preference into account when we suggest who to see. We value every practitioner equally, and requests can be for cultural or personal reasons. We only show a practitioner’s gender on our site if they have chosen, in writing, to be listed that way.
Can I see a psychologist without a referral?
Yes, for private sessions: you can book directly. To claim a Medicare rebate you need a GP referral and a Mental Health Treatment Plan. NDIS participants need funding for psychology in their plan, then an online referral.
How much does a psychologist cost in Adelaide?
Our psychology fee is $252.99 an hour for private, Medicare and NDIS clients. With a GP referral and a Mental Health Treatment Plan, Medicare rebates $101.55 a session, so the gap is $151.44. Every service’s fees are on our fees and funding page.
Is it better to go to a psychiatrist or a psychologist?
It depends on what you need. Psychologists provide talking therapies and assessments. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can diagnose and prescribe medication. Many people start with their GP or a psychologist, who can refer on to a psychiatrist if that would help.
What is a red flag in therapy, and can I change practitioner?
Feeling unheard, judged or unsafe, or feeling that your goals and consent aren’t respected, are signs the fit isn’t right. You can raise it with your practitioner or with our team, and we’ll talk about seeing someone else. Clients can switch practitioner.
